Netflix Acquires Ted Bundy Film ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’, Starring Zac Efron

Director Joe Berlinger has gotten very familiar with the story of notorious American serial killer Ted Bundy as of late.

He directed Netflix’s hit documentary series “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.” Berlinger also directed the film ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’, which takes a look at the Bundy murders from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who initially refused to believe the truth of his murderous ways for years.

Zac Efron stars as the twisted villain. Now, according to a report from Deadline, Netflix has also acquired the U.S. rights “and some foreign” for the film, along with “an awards season theatrical run planned.” ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ was released at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival on January 26th.

Check out the trailer for the film below:

Bundy was executed via electric chair in a Florida State Prison in 1989 for his crimes. He confessed to the murders of 30 women, however, the true amount of victims is unknown. The murders took place between the years 1974 and 1978 across the state lines of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.
