Back in 2016 news began to float around that The CW was looking to develop a TV series based on the 1987 hit ‘The Lost Boys.’ However, the network decided to pass on ordering a pilot for the series at the time. Now, The CW has circled back to the idea.
Per a report from Deadline, Rob Thomas penned the originally planned adaptation of ‘The Lost Boys’ in 2016. However, after the project didn’t go according to plan, The CW still kept high hopes on the title and possibly doing something with it in the future.
Now, Thomas is busy with his ‘Veronica Mars’ reboot for Hulu. However, a rendition by writer Heather Mitchell of ‘Scandal’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ has reportedly “picked up steam this development season.”
Here’s a brief description of The CW’s take on ‘The Lost Boys’ TV series:
“Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat…and a secret underworld of vampires.
“After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up.
“But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.”
