It’s been almost a decade since fans of the franchise have got to see A Nightmare on Elm Street movie, and more than double of that since they’ve got to witness a good one.

There are not many actors who could replace Robert Englund when it comes to Freddy Krueger, and while supporters have been waiting patiently for his return to the role, the man himself has shot down any chances of him returning as the iconic horror-villain.

In a recent interview with EW, Englund told us his thoughts on the matter.
“I don’t think I’ll ever don the makeup again… I’m a little too old for that. I’m a little long in the tooth to play Freddy now. I think if I was doing it, it would be more like Freddy vs Viagra.”

However, Englund did express his interest in making a cameo in any future movies.
“I would love to be invited back if they decide to reboot A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: The Dream Warriors. I would love to come back and maybe play the dream analyst, the woman in the therapy sessions who doesn’t believe that there can be such a thing as a collective nightmare that’s common to a group of people.”

We would love to see this materialize and get Robert Englund a part in any future A Nightmare on Elm Street movie, but for now, Englund fans can go and watch him on his new show, True Terror with Robert Englund, when it premieres on March 18.
