Reports are suggesting that Nintendo was edging towards Sora becoming a Super Smash Bros. character but Disney rejected the motion.
The news was shared by Kinda Funny’s Imran Khan, who was previously an editor at Game Informer. He stated that Nintendo “absolutely approached Disney” in hopes of adding Sora to the Smash’s ever-growing roster, but Disney wasn’t fond of the idea.
Nintendo recently revealed the fifth and final character of their fighter pass when they announced Byleth from the Fire Emblem franchise will be joining the battle. As well as Byleth, Persona’s Joker, Dragon Quest’s Hero, Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard, and Banjo & Kazooie were available to use through DLC.
Fans were a little disappointed in the fact multiple gaming icons didn’t make the cut, with Sora being among the most popular characters suggested to join Smash.
The Nintendo Switch exclusive, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, is now the best-selling fighting game of all-time, with over 15 million copies sold worldwide.
