If, like me, you are a fan of classic literary horror and like nothing better than to listen to well produced audiobook recordings of old school spine chillers by the likes of M.R.James, H.P. Lovecraft and Saki then you have to check out Horrorbabble on Youtube.
Describing themselves as a ‘small UK based production company, dedicated to the production of audiobooks, dramatic readings and music’ the company provides excellent readings of both classic and contemporary horror tales, often compiling them into interesting and well curated collections for the discerning horror fan.
Having received over 7 million views since joining Youtube in 2015, Horrorbabble provides regular content, uploading new readings several times a week and provides short introductions to some genuinely choice pieces of horror lit through their community page on Youtube and social media platforms.
Authors whose work has graced the channel so far include such luminaries of literary horror as Poe, Saki, Lovecraft and Blackwood, as well as some more obscure or possibly less well known authors.
Compilations, which are often comprised from the work of several writers and run to multiple hours worth of readings, include collections with titles like ‘Horror on the Brain: A collection of psychological horror’ ‘When Horror Meets Science Fiction, Winter tales and Weird Creatures.
There is even a 22 hour long video compiling the whole of the Cthulhu mythos by H.P. Lovecraft in one go. With two hours for toilet breaks and food, that could be a hell of a day.
