Prolific actor, D*** Miller, better known for his role as Murray Futterman in the classic 1984 horror film, ‘Gremlins’, has died at the age of 90, per a report from Variety.
Miller had a career that lasted over 60 years, making hundreds of on-screen appearances in the process. He began in the 1950s, getting the opportunity to work with legendary director and producer Roger Corman. Miller has worked with other high-profile directors such as James Cameron, Ernest Dickerson, Martin Scorsese, John Sayles, and Joe Dante.
He is survived by his wife Lainie, daughter Barbara and granddaughter Autumn. Dante recently took to Twitter to comment on Miller’s passing:
“I’m devastated to report that one of my best friends and most treasured collaborators has passed away. I “grew up” (kinda) watching D*** Miller in movies from the 50s on and was thrilled to have him in my first movie for @RogerCorman…

“…We hit it off and every script thereafter I always looked for a role for D***–not just because he was my friend but because I loved watching him act! But he leaves behind over 100 performances, a bio & a doc–not bad for a guy who hardly ever enjoyed a starring role.”

Director Edgar Wright also shared his thoughts on Miller’s passing via Twitter:
“RIP D*** Miller, surely the king of character actors. A friendly, funny face in Gremlins (1&2), Piranha, the original Little Shop Of Horrors, Not Of This Earth, After Hours & my personal beatnik fav, Walter Paisley in ‘A Bucket Of Blood’. Any role of his was cult movie nirvana.”
